I really have been trying to be a gentler and kinder person but I must admit that my patience really gets challenged when I’m dealing with whiners – specifically teaching whiners. So rather than yell at the whiner – which won’t do any good because most of them wouldn’t get it – I’m gonna take my frustration out here – you know – a safe zone that won’t leave blood in my wake. My favorite whines lately are this:
My hip bones are grinding into the floor. Skinny dancers dealing with their bones touching the floor – wow – haven’t heard that one before. Seriously people – use some muscles and pick your butt up off the floor like thousands of skinny professional dancers have done before.
This doesn’t work. Yeah – that’s why you’re the student and it’s called a learning process. It takes months and years to get your muscles to go in a new direction – at what point in your training did you miss that memo?
I don’t get it. Get what? Why you got up this morning? Your reason for dancing? Your life? Be specific about what confuses you – I am not a mind reader – and when I say be specific – “the whole thing” is not the correct answer.
To end this little rant I will calmly repeat to myself that patience is a virtue, patience is a virtue, patience is a virtue…or is it?
I just got into it and it’s over. Jeeze. More please.
