Oh my, I can so relate to the skunk odor. Long time ago, my then husband and I took our Dobe out to a very large park to run in the evening. He came across a skunk and got sprayed full force too. We drove home with our heads sticking out of the car. Once home I too had heard of the tomato juice and we happened to have some. It was late but being in S. Calif, it was still quite warm outside. I took Dublin and poured the tomato juice all over him. Waited and then hosed him off. Not much of a difference. Needless to say, he spent the night outside. I have sense heard that peroxide and some Dawn will help. Here is what I found on the net:

In the plastic container, combine 1 quart hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda and 1 to 2 teaspoons of liquid soap. Add lukewarm water if needed (for larger dogs). Mix ingredients well. The solution will fizz, as a chemical reaction is occurring. Use immediately - do not store. Do not soak your dog with water prior to bathing. Promptly begin cleansing the affected areas thoroughly, massaging the solution deep into your dog's coat. You may wish to use a sponge or washcloth. Avoid getting the solution in the eyes, ears or mouth. Allow the solution to remain on your dog for at least five minutes (longer if strong odor persists). Rinse your dog well with lukewarm water. Repeat steps 3-5 as necessary until odor is gone.

I so enjoyed reading your blog about Emily. She sounds like a wonderful companion. Just gotta love those Terroriers.. I have her cousin in the Cairn Terrier. Just love their attitude..
